Twitter Study Shows Every State's World Cup Prediction Inbox

(Panama City) - As patriotic as America can be, the country has no confidence in Team USA's chances of being crowned World Cup champions.

BetOnline.ag conducted a World Cup study using geo-tagged Twitter data via an API trends software. Over the last week, the sampling compiled and analyzed tweets, hashtags, and keyword phrases about who will win the 2022 World Cup.

For example, phrases and hashtags such as "win World Cup" and "#WorldCupWinner" were tracked in every state. The club most with the most mentions with those data parameters subsequently "won" the state.

More than 1 million tweets were tracked in total.

As you can see from the map, America is mostly predicting a championship by Argentina or Brazil, both of which are the two favorites, according to the oddsmakers.

The state breakdown is as follows:

Argentina - 22

Brazil - 16

Spain - 6

England - 3

France - 1

Portugal - 1

Belgium - 1

No other team beat out one of the above teams in any state.
