(Panama City) - Americans are always giving the French a hard time, and it looks like the majority of the U.S. will be rooting against Les Bleus in Sunday’s World Cup championship match.

BetOnline's crack staff analyzed geo-tagged Twitter data over the past three days, t racking tweets, hashtags, and keyword phrases about who each state is cheering for.

For example, "cheering for Argentina" "rooting for France," #argentinafootball, #argentinasoccer, #argies, #Francia, #francefootball, #francesoccer, "argentina will win world cup," "France will win world cup,"

Nearly 200,000 tweets were tracked in total.

As you can see from the map, America wants Argentina and Lionel Messi to emerge victorious. Here’s the breakdown:

Argentina:          37 states
France:              13 states

(Washington, North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Louisiana, Virginia, Delaware, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut)

You can understand why Louisiana is rooting for France, and it seems like the upper Northeast is rooting for France as well.

Our best guess as to why 74% of the rest of the country is rooting for Argentina is because of Messi. He’s arguably the most well-known soccer player in the world and people are rooting for him to win his first World Cup.
