The oddsmakers expect incumbent Lori Lightfoot to lose her position as Chicago Mayor ahead of Tuesday's election.

SportsBetting.ag set odds for the mayoral race, and Paul Vallas is the odds-on favorite. Lightfoot is second, while Brandon Johnson and Chuy Garcia are the longer shots.

Public safety is issue number one, two, and three, writes Storer H. Rowley of the Washington Monthly.

In a recent poll, 61 percent of Chicagoans disapproved of Lightfoot’s performance.

The latest independent poll by Victory Research last week showed Vallas in front with 22.%, followed by Lori Lightfoot at 17.1%.

But Vallas has recently had to respond to controversies that include his residency status, his police officer son's shooting of a black man and his personal stance against abortion that Vallas insists will not get in the way of his political position.

“Personal religious conviction is unrelated to my public position supporting women’s reproductive rights. It’s like asking Joe Biden as a Catholic, ‘Are you for abortion?’ Or Rich Daley. Or John Kennedy,” Greek Orthodox Vallas stated.

“I’m the frontrunner. That’s the reason. They know I’ve got momentum. They know I’m rising in the polls. They know that I’m a threat. And this time, they’re gonna try to attack me personally as opposed to challenge me on the issues,” Vallas said Friday.

“My wife says, ‘Stop complaining. Four years ago, no one was paying attention to you. ... My hide is pretty thick. I’d like to think I can withstand just about anything.”
