White Sox Reliever Injures Groin During Brawl
(April 10, 2023) - On Sunday afternoon, Pirates shortstop Oneil Cruz suffered an ankle injury after the Pirates and White Sox bullpens emptied onto the field. That injury will keep him out of service much of the rest of the season.
White Sox reliever Joe Kelly apparently injured his right groin strain after running in from the bullpen when the benches cleared.
Kelly, 34, has made three appearances this season, allowing three runs on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. That translates into a 10.13 ERA and 1.88 WHIP. He was out for Monday night's game against the Twins.
In 2018, Kelly was suspended six games for another bench clearing brawl.
Twins Batters Just .134 vs. Dylan Cease
(April 8, 2023) - Dylan Cease is slated to start as pitcher for the Chicago White Sox on Monday. On average, Minnesota batters are just .134 against him in 82 at bats (he's allowed 11 hits).
Dylan Cease yielded one run over five innings on Wednesday in a win over the Giants, and that was pitching with an illness. That showed perhaps in his stats as he allowed for five free passes and took him 99 pitches.
