Hollywood actor and spokesperson for the BetMGM brand, Jamie Foxx, suffered a "medical complication" on Tuesday, his family revealed back in Mid-April.  Further details were not immediately known at the time other than the family said he looked to be recovering.

Three weeks later, he remains hospitalized however.

The 55-year-old Academy Award winner's daughter, Corrine Foxx, has provided few details regarding his condition.

'We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday," shared Corinne in a statement written on behalf of the Foxx family at the time.

"Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers," the statement reads. "The family asks for privacy during this time."

Jamie was in Atlanta for work on the film "Back in Action" when he fell ill.

Foxx has become a regular fixture on our television sets in recent years courtesy of his association with BetMGM.  Their commercials featuring Foxx appear often during the NFL season.  Sadly, these commercials continue running on ESPN while Foxx remains hospitalized.

The situation may be more dire than originally thought.

On Wednesday it was reported on TMZ.com that friends of Foxx were urging folks to "pray for Jamie".

By Wednesday afternoon, Foxx posted via his Instagram account for the first time thanking his beloved fans.

Jamie has been the host of the hugely popular "Beat Shazam" music lyric game show on FOX, which was going into production just days after he was hospitalized, TMZ noted.

Production on that program was set to start today (May 3) and Jamie has been replaced with another host.

Corinne also appears on that show as a DJ and she too will not be participating this season, according to TMZ.
