What is the Head to Head Record for Cardinals vs. Reds? Betting Trends

(May 23, 2023) - The St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds series has been fairly competitive with neither side enjoying an edge.  This has been an UNDER series of late though (8-3 favoring the UNDER).  With this in mind, let's look at the starters and how each have performed against the other team. (The UNDER Scale 1 to 10 is least likely to most likely).

St. Louis was 11-4 in their last fifteen games coming into Tuesday May 23.

Cardinals were 7-1 in their last 8 games vs. a right-handed starter. Reds are 8-0 in their last 8 home games vs. a left-handed starter.

Cincinnati was 20-27 coming into Tuesday and won four of their last ten games.

Cardinals

Adam Wainwright

Adam Wainwright was charged with five runs (two earned) over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a win over the Dodgers.  He is 1-0 in three starts this season with a 5.74 ERA.

Cincinnati Reds career statistics vs. Adam Wainwright are just 14 of 65 at bats (.215).  Only two of those were doubles and one a homer.

(6)

Steven Matz - Steven Matz took a loss despite allowing only an unearned run in 4 2/3 innings Friday against the Dodgers.  He does not have a win this month, or this season for that matter.  He owns a 5.05 ERA.

(5)

Miles Mikolas -  Miles Mikolas logged a quality start in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Saturday night, surrendering three runs on six hits over seven strong frames.  He had a win prior to that.  And prior to that game, Mikolas pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed one run against the Cubs.  He's 2-1 with a 4.77 ERA, though he has not been pitching as if he has an ERA that high of late.

He is 17 of 73 against Mikolas (.233). Curt Casali has been especially solid vs. Mikolas, but has played poorly so far this year.  Take him out of the picture and suddenly Mikolas is .192 against Reds batters.  He's allowed six homers against them. Jonathan India and Nick Senzel are the one's to watch.  Each have two home runs against Mikolas.

Reds

Graham Ashcraft - Graham Ashcraft surrendered seven runs in five-plus innings Wednesday in a loss to the Rockies, and prior to that he allowed four runs in a no-decision.  He hasn't had a win in some time.   He's allowed 12 hits in 34 at bats (.353)

(4)

Ben Lively - Ben Lively struck out eight and scattered two hits across 5 2/3 innings Friday in a tough-luck loss.  He is 1-2 but with a 2.45 ERA this season.

(NA)

Luke Weaver - Luke Weaver is 1-2 with a 6.54 ERA.
