Forte is finally going to race after having to pass on the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. This was door to a foot injury realized the morning of the Derby.
Forte is trained by one of the best in the biz, Todd Pletcher. Coming into the Kentucky Derby, Forte had won the coveted Florida Derby and was the favorite to win that race prior to being scratched. Mage ultimately won it but will not be racing in the Belmont Stakes. Forte pays $17.50 for every $10 bet to win this year's Belmont Stakes.
Will he be conditioned for this race having rested for a number of weeks?
“It seems like he’s maintained his fitness level,” Pletcher said. “It seems like everything is in good order.”
National Treasure won the Preakness Stakes and promises a payout of $60 on every $10 bet to win the Belmont Stakes.
His trainer, Bob Baffert, has won three Belmont Stakes.
But National Treasure came in 4th at the Santa Anita and raced in a Preakness Stakes that was mostly devoid of any quality competitors, not to mention the relatively small field.
Tapit Trice and Angel of Empire are expected to provide Forte with the most competition. Both sat around the 4-1 mark.
