A crazy day in Major League Baseball Sunday as we somehow managed a win with Houston coming from behind to take the game away from the LA Angels.
The Dodgers and Orioles come into their Monday game both looking hot. LA has won six of their last seven overall while the Orioles have won eight straight. These teams have not faced one another since 2019.
Though the Dodgers only scored a single run on Sunday, they had scored five or more in their previous eight games. Baltimore, meanwhile, has scored five or more in seven of their last eight games.
Cincinnati has won four of their last six versus the San Francisco Giants. The Giants have won five straight following their sweep of the Pirates. Cincinnati just got swept by the Brewers.
Logan Webb (8-7, 3.14 ERA) is coming off a a complete-game shutout versus the Rockies his last start. He racked up 11 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of two-run baseball the game prior.
Brandon Williamson is 1-2 with a 5.21 ERA. He will start for Cincinnati and hopes to right the ship. Williamson hasn't had a win since June 13, beating the lowly Royals. He pitched well in a no-decision against the Nationals his last start, allowing just one hit over three scoreless innings.
The Marlins are hoping to duplicate their success so far this season against the Cardinals. They are 3-1 heading into St. Louis on Monday.
Jesus Luzardo is 8-5 with a 3.29 ERA. He's enjoyed wins over the Phillies and Cards his last two starts. Luzardo has permitted 8 hits off of 34 at bats versus the Cardinals current roster.
Miles Mikolas is 5-5 with a 4.12 ERA. He did not factor into the decision against the Nationals Friday but pitched well prior to the game being suspended. Before that, he fired seven shutout innings versus the White Sox.
He's allowed just 12 hits off of 56 at bats vs. the Marlins current roster (.216).
Shane McClanahan (11-1, 2.53 ERA) does not have a win in his last two starts. He allowed four runs over three innings against the Mariners his last start before going to the injury list for ongoing back issues.
Dane Dunning starts for Texas and has permitted just 3 hits off of 20 at bats (.150) vs. the current Rays lineup. Dunning yielded four runs across 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Nationals his last start before the All Star Break. He had won his previous two starts.
Dunning is 8-2 with a 2.84 ERA.
Tampa is 6-2 in the last eight games of this series.
Six of the last eight in the series have stayed UNDER the current total of 8.5. The Rays have not hit more than 4 runs in seven of their last 9 outings while Texas has had 3 or fewer runs in half of their last eight.
The bullpens for both teams are questionable, however, both pitchers are capable of going deep.
McClanahan back tightness should have resolved by now.
