England midfielder David Beckham has backed red-hot striker Wayne Rooney to fire the national towards World Cup glory.

Rooney has scored 25 goals so far this season and Beckham believes that the 24-year-old is out to prove he is the best player in the world.

"Burnout won't be a problem. Wayne is ready for any game. It doesn't matter how many matches he's played or will be involved in until the end of the season - he'll be ready," The Sun quoted Beckham, as saying.

"Of course, he can sustain that level until the middle of July. He is only 24 - he should be able to. Wayne looks after himself and works hard. The way he plays on the field is how he plays in training - and that's why he's so good," he added.

Midfielder Daniel Jensen is confident that the Danish can surprise this summer.
