Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers odds opened at Lakers -3 ½ and have remained there at SBG Global.  Gambling911.com anticipated a line around -4 should it be determined that Kobe Bryant would not be playing.  The line should be closer to -5 ½ otherwise.  Most books were now offering a line on this game but it is interesting that a handful of "wise guy" shops have pulled the Celtics-Lakers off the board.

This game goes off Thursday, 10:35 pm Eastern - TNT

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers renew their rivalry on Thursday as the two teams meet at the Staples Center in a NBA betting game that can be seen on TNT.  The Celtics are coming off a win at Sacramento on Tuesday while the Lakers dispatched of Golden State.  Kobe Bryant did not play for the Lakers in that game and he has missed the last four Los Angeles games.  If you think that the Lakers can't win without him you might want to think again as they are 4-0 this season without Kobe.

Boston got a tough win on Tuesday against Sacramento as Paul Pierce hit a big three-pointer late and the Celtics held on to win. "Of course I'm not going to hesitate,'' Pierce said, "That's what I've done my whole career, I've knocked down big shots for us.''  The Celtics bench played very well in the win, coming up with 44 points, led by Rasheed Wallace who had 17.  "I thought they saved the game for us,'' Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "They left with a [9-point] lead then our starters gave it back.'' The Celtics are putting a lot of importance into this road trip and getting a win at Sacramento was huge. "It's a win,'' Rivers said. "I don't know what tone it's going to set, but we get a win and now we've got to move to the next NBA betting game, and that's how we're approaching the next 31 now. We're not looking ahead, we're not sending messages, we're just trying to win this game and get better tonight and focus on the next game. The whole trip, we're not looking at. We're looking at the next game. That's the way we have to be right now.''

The Lakers defeated Golden State by 10 points on Tuesday as Kobe sat out again.  Shannon Brown was great as he scored 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Andrew Bynum added 21 points and seven rebounds.

Kobe may not play on Thursday but the Lakers have proven they can win without him. "It's purely up to him," head coach Phil Jackson said. "We'll encourage him to play if he's ready. If he's not, that's OK."
