Latest Breeders Cup Classic Odds 2023 With 18 Horses

The Breeders’ Cup 2023 Pre-Entry Stage was completed this week, leaving a field of 14 for the Classic, as well as four "Also Eligible" horses.

There were no real surprises, although White Abarrio did give us a late scare after missing scheduled work by a day, but then delivering an almost foot-perfect workout Wednesday to claim his place in the lineup.

SportsBetting.ag shows Arcangelo as a very firm favorite for the Classic at +250, or 5-2, followed by Arabian Knight (6-1), who remains the book's largest liability in the futures market.

In his final preparations just ten days prior to the race, Archangelo completed the five furlong distance at Santa Anita in a little less than two minutes.

“We were looking for sharper today, and that’s exactly what we got,” Antonucci said. “We’re going to need some speed here because of the competition and the racetrack, and knowing what you’re running into and managing your horse appropriately is so important.

“Robert has done a phenomenal job putting in a high cruising speed and deep foundation under this horse. He came back to the barn bucking and kicking after the work.”

Bob Baffert was thrilled with the work from the GI Pacific Classic winner Arabian Knight, who could become the favorite by next week.  He's currently listed at 6-1 odds.

“I was really happy with the work and the way he has been progressing since the Haskell, which was kind of a disaster all around," Baffert said of his workout. "He just seems to be progressing and continuing to get better with maturity. We've still got another couple of weeks to go, but I couldn't be any happier with the way he's coming into the race at the moment.”
