A U.S. District Court judge that was hearing a federal lawsuit brought against the former CEO of Resorts World has recused herself.  U.S. District Judge Miranda Du was immediately appointed to fill in for Dorsey.

It wasn't immediately known as to why U.S. District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey recused herself in Robert “RJ” Cipriani’s six-count lawsuit accusing Scott Sibella of ignoring information that felons were illegally gambling at the Strip casino.

The lawsuit accuses Sibella of negligence, civil conspiracy and intentional infliction of emotional distress against Cipriani, a high stakes gambler and government source who once helped take down a multimillion dollar drug ring.  He disclosed this week that Mark Wahlberg’s Unrealistic Ideas Project is working on a documentary about the case for Amazon Prime.

Prior to reports that federal agents were investigating both former and current casino executives for their alleged ties to a Southern California bookmaking ring, Cipriani tweeted claims that Sibella had ties to the bookie under probe.

"I'm hearing Scott Sibella, former Pres at MGM and current Pres at Resorts World, was very tight with Wayne Nix and other bookies for many YEARS! They hate each other now. When Ellwood was let go, Sibella was very nervous about all this leading to him, as he should be!"

Nix is a former minor league pitcher who ran a major league illegal sports betting operation in California, according to federal prosecutors. Nix ran his website, Sand Island Sports, out of the sports betting hub of Costa Rica.

Federal law agents in California are investigating claims that high ranking Las Vegas casino employees used casino assets to pay gambling debts towards an illegal gambling ring that operated for almost two decades.
