Despite the potential for former US Ambassador Nikki Haley to win the New Hampshire primary, former US President Donald Trump remains the hefty favorite to be the GOP nominee at -1500 following his strong showing at Monday's Iowa caucus.

Trump's winning margin of 30% or greater in Iowa was the -175 favorite and he walked away with just over 50% when all was said and done.  Trump won every county in the state except Johnson County by a mere one point to Haley.  Johnson County is home to Iowa State.

With temperatures well below zero, turnout was the lowest since 2000.  Only 14% of the state's registered Republicans participated in Monday night's caucus.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, 45, finished well behind the 77-year-old former President in second place in Iowa, edging out former Haley, 51, a one time South Carolina Governor.  South Carolina is third in line to hold a primary with Haley trailing Trump by double digits early on.  That primary is more than a month away.

"THANK YOU IOWA, I LOVE YOU ALL!!!" Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Not all the news is positive for Trump however.

That 14% turnout number trended on Twitter Tuesday morning.  Factor in that half of that number (50,624) voted for Trump, we end up with just 7% of Iowa's registered Republicans backing the former President.

Also on Monday video surfaced of Trump appearing to drag his right knee behind him while delivering pizzas to firefighters.

A repost by Ron Filipkowski, the editor-in-chief of the independent news network Meidas Touch, said Trump "keeps dragging that right leg."

The age and health of both Trump and the current President Joe Biden have long been a concern.  Biden, the leading Democratic candidate, would be 86 at the end of his second term.  Trump is four years younger.
