New Vegas Law Could Land You in Prison for Snapping Photos
David Hookstead of Outkick recently visited Las Vegas where he reveals a new law that could potentially result in folks ending up arrested and thrown in prison for doing what we all do when in Sin City......take photos on our cell phones.
Sounds insane, right?
A new city ordinance is in effect that bans “stopping, standing or engaging in an activity that causes another person to stop” on certain areas of the Las Vegas Strip. Pedestrian bridges appear to be the main focus of the new law.
The measure even extends beyond the bridges to 20 feet surrounding connected stairs, elevators and escalators.
Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and face up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine for their actions. One exception is for those actually waiting for an elevator to arrive.
The county says it's all about safety.
Tourists will often stop on these pedestrian bridges to snap pictures of street performers.
I'm back from Las Vegas after five days of pure anarchy and chaos:

Nevada ACLU executive director Athar Haseebullah believe that it "mak[es] criminals out of ordinary Nevadans stopping for a mere moment on the pedestrian bridges they fund as taxpayers."
"This is not interpreted to mean that tourists and locals cannot take photos along the Boulevard while on a pedestrian bridge, but rather is intended to maintain the safe and continuous movement of pedestrians on the bridges to ensure pedestrian safety on the bridges," the county said.
Hookstead says he will not comply with the new law.
I go to Las Vegas often. You all know that if you’re an OutKick reader. I’m our resident Sin City expert. While I respect law enforcement, there is no shot in hell I won’t be stopping to take pictures.
One of my favorite Vegas activities is to wake up before the sun is up, walk the strip, hop on the pedestrian bridges and take some great photos.
The Las Vegas authorities can have my phone when they pry it from my cold dead hands. If they think I’m not going to take photos like the one below because of this ordinance, then you simply don’t know what I’m about.
