The Orioles line with Rodriguez starting opened at -135 and moved to -162 with better than 80% of the action on Baltimore.

The top cappers from Seth Cohen to Ashlee Kiddell to Knup Sports to SportsHub Insider were all backing the Orioles here.

Rodriguez was listed with an over/under 4.5 hits allowed priced both ways at -114.

Rodriguez, who is 3-0 with a 3-0 ERA, allowed just two runs on four hits over six innings in a win over the Twins on Tuesday.  Prior to that he  allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings  in a no-decision against the Red Sox.

In 41 at bats against Rodriguez, the current Angels lineup has 11 hits against him with three RBIs including a home run courtesy of Taylor Ward.

Fox Sports analyst John Smoltz was immediately drawn to Rodriguez last season, saying that if he were “looking for a pitcher, this is the kind of pitcher I would be looking for.”

The analyst sees the Orioles starter having the ability to dial up his best velocity at the opportune moment, staying healthy and stacking up starts.

“The next thing you know you have an aura about you that the other hitters fear,” Smoltz said. “You keep that aura as long as you can in this game because everybody’s vulnerable to have those cracks. When you get on the mound and you know you’ve got the edge and you’re better than anybody who steps in that box, that’s a great feeling to have.”

The Angels starter, Griffin Canning, owns an 8.05 ERA and 0-3 record thus far. He's permitted 15 hits on 46 at bats versus this Orioles lineup, including 8 RBIs.

Gunnar Henderson (.289 ERA) is 4-for-6 against Canning with an RBI and home run.
