Track Phantom is a 3 year old colt and has raced from 2023 to 2024. He was sired by Quality Road out of the Into Mischief mare Miss Sunset.

Key Factors That Could Lead to Track Phantom Winning This Year's Kentucky Derby

Trainer (6)

He is trained by Steven M. Asmussen.  He is among the most recognizable and accomplished trainers to have never won a Kentucky Derby.

A quality trainer who is due for a win but we also need to be realistic here.

Jockey (6)

Joel Rosario will be the jockey for Track Phantom.

He won the 2013 Kentucky Derby with Orb and the Belmont Stakes in 2014 with Tonalist and in 2019 with Sir Winston. The 39-year-old native of the Dominican Republic also has won 15 Breeders' Cup races

More Reason to Bet on Track Phantom (5)

Following his win at the Lecomte, Asmussen offered this:

"I couldn't be any prouder of the horse. He's won all three of his two-turn races," said trainer Steve Asmussen after his fourth Lecomte victory. "He has a beautiful way of going and I think he's going to get better. He's a beautiful mover and we're excited to be in this position."

He added: "I love how he's running here in the 3-year-old series at the Fair Grounds and we plan on continuing in it. We like the opportunity to gradually stretch him out," Asmussen said. "We're going to try and follow the same plan as we did with Epicenter, but come up a half-length faster."

Why Track Phantom Might Not Win This Year's Kentucky Derby

Past Performance (4)

Sure he won the Lecomte, but he also placed 4th at the Louisiana Derby, his last race coming into this one.  Prior to that he had a 2nd place showing at the Risen Stakes.

He's a 20-1 long shot for a reason with odds way off from the two favorites: Sierra Leone and Fierceness.
