His arraignment on multiple charges stemming from an incident prior to the second round of the PGA Championship Friday has been delayed until June 3.  It was originally slated to take place on Tuesday.

Scheffler's attorney, Steve Romines, told ESPN that a not guilty plea will be entered on the new date in Louisville. The world No. 1 is not required to attend the arraignment, which originally was scheduled for Tuesday.

Scheffler was arrested and handcuffed outside Valhalla Golf Club in the early morning hours on Friday for not following police orders after a pedestrian, later identified as vendor John Mills, 69, was pronounced dead at the scene about 5:09 a.m.   The officer attempting to stop Scheffler stated that the golfer had dragged him along the ground with his vehicle.

Scheffler was booked on four charges, including second-degree assault of a police officer.

Scheffler finished the PGA Championship in a four-way tie for eighth place at 13-under after shooting a 65 in Sunday's final round.  Immediately following the arrest, BetOnline had slashed Scheffler's odds of winning the PGA Championship down to 4-1.

The golfer said Sunday that he felt "fairly tired, definitely a lot more tired than I have been finishing some other tournaments," but added that he was "proud of how I fought this week."

Polymarket will settle this bet as follows:

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the second-degree assault charge against Scottie Scheffler, stemming from his arrest on May 17, 2024, is officially dropped or reduced to a non-felony charge by May 31, 2024, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".

The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the relevant court or an official statement from Scheffler's legal representatives. However, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Polymarket is not available to those in the U.S. for wagering.
