Move over South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem.  There's a new dog hater in town.

Two misdemeanor warrants have been filed against Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, on charges of cruelty to dogs in the second degree.

He's accused of neglecting and abandoning two dogs, one of which has since been euthanized.

Buggs' agent, Trey Robinson, claims the allegations against his client are bogus and that it is Buggs who's the victim of an ongoing "subversive campaign" to force the closure of the hookah lounge he owns in Tuscaloosa.

"Under no circumstance does Mr. Buggs condone the mistreatment of any animal,'' Robinson said in a statement. "The dogs at issue did not belong to him and he was unaware they remained at the property in question."

Buggs is the latest Kansas City Chiefs player to come under fire following what was otherwise a fairy tale season for the team - courtesy of the Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce romance - that culminated in yet another Super Bowl victory.

It was just two weeks ago during a commencement speech at Kansas’ Benedictine College, a private Catholic liberal arts school, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker came under fire for claiming some Catholic leaders were “pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America.”

He continued by criticizing Pride Month, then went on to suggest most of those women graduating were looking forward to being barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.

“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say that her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother,” he said.

BetUS is offering a number of Butker prop bets, including whether he goes onto apologize for the comments made during the commencement speech (he won't at 6-1 odds), and if he appears on stage with Taylor Swfit (he definitely won't at 12-1 odds).

BetUS is still offering plenty of Swift/Kelce prop bets too.

As for Buggs, guilty until proven innocent?

Well, it sure does seem Tuscaloosa County officials are out to get the Chiefs player.

Robinson said in his statement that Buggs was arrested at his hookah lounge on misdemeanor charges "on two separate occasions in the past two months, but each time no public record was made of these arrests."

He said the city of Tuscaloosa "used the threat of pursuing and publicizing both the allegations filed today and these arrests as leverage against Mr. Buggs by offering to drop and not pursue them in exchange for his voluntary surrender of his business license."

Robinson said Buggs "declined the City's offer as he has serious concerns about the City's and Police Department's motivation for deciding to target his business, which he plans to bring to light as part of his defense of the allegations and charges filed against him and his reputation and business."
