Joey Chestnut may be the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) when it comes to competitive eating, but he won't be taking part in this year's Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, held of the Fourth of July.  That opens the door for other eaters and makes betting on this event much more competitive.

Chestnut has won the event 16 times, including every contest since 2016.

Chestnut has been ruled ineligible to compete due to a sponsorship conflict.  More specifically, he is now promoting Impossible Food's meatless franks.

Early odds have been released by BetUS Sportsbook for the July 4 event, and James Webb is just a -150 favorite compared to the rest of the pack.

In year's past, Chestnut would be considered a "lock" in the -1000 and up range.

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest odds
Eater    Odds
James Webb    -150
Geoffrey Esper    +110
Nick Wehry    +650
Gideon Oji    16/1
Bertley Weaver IV    16/1

With Chestnut no longer eligible to compete, the parody of this year’s tournament looks to be some of the best we have seen in years, writes Eric Richter for the New York Post.
