The 4th of July Thursday is the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island.
Unfortunately, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut is not in the contest due to a sponsorship dispute. No Chestnut chowing dogs is like The Office without Steve Carell.
That said, Chestnut is doing his own competition in El Paso, Texas, where he’ll inhale as many wieners as he can in five minutes (instead of the usual 10 minutes).
The show at Coney must go on and eating must still be done, but I would guess the television ratings will go way down.
