Coach Dan Hurley, UConn Agree to New 6-Year, $50M Contract
(July 8, 2024) -
UConn coach Dan Hurley has signed a new contract to stay in Storrs through the 2029-30 season.
Hurley had previously turned down an offer from the Los Angeles Lakers last month,
Hurley's new contract is worth $50 million over six years, before performance-based incentives.
"It's an honor to coach basketball at UConn and to represent this world class institution and the great state of Connecticut," Hurley said in a statement. "We are extremely proud of the championship program that we have rebuilt for our supporters and fans. We will continue to obsessively pursue championships and historic success, while continuing to develop great young men. Bleed Blue!"
Hurley led the Huskies to back-to-back national championships the past two seasons.

Connecticut Current Sports Betting Market
The legal age to bet online and in person is 21. Opening an online betting account can be done from one's own home via a licensed website's registration page.
The only sites regulated by the state are DraftKings, FanDuel and Fanatics at this time.
With the limited competition, offshore sportsbooks and local bookies using sportsbook software still thrive in the state especially because Connecticut prohibits betting on the Huskies (as well as games they play in) during the regular season. It does permit wagering on the Huskies during tournament play (March Madness).
Connecticut Gambling Tax Rules
The CT Lottery is required by law to withhold Connecticut state income tax (currently 6.99%) on all gambling winnings that are either: 1) subject to federal withholding tax (i.e. proceeds more than $5,000); or 2) reportable for federal tax purposes (i.e. $600 or more and at least 300 times the amount of the wager.)
