  • BetOnline pulled its election odds for two hours following the shooting but updated them soon after.
  • Former President Donald Trump's odds shot up from -180 to -300 where they remained Tuesday morning.

Immediately following the attempted assassination of former U.S. President and GOP nominee Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, FanDuel pulled its election odds.

Nothing unusual there.  BetOnline did the same thing.

There's one big difference, however.  BetOnline put their odds back up two hours later upon learning that Trump was doing well and had not suffered any serious injuries.  The former president had been grazed in the ear and appeared for the first time Monday at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee with the injured ear bandaged up.

FanDuel only offers U.S. election odds in Canada.  The gambling website is yet to repost these odds as of Tuesday morning.  It has not commented on future plans to offer this market once again.

“In light of recent events, FanDuel has made the decision to suspend its US election markets," FanDuel stated following the assassination attempt.

BetMGM has also removed the U.S. presidential odds markets from its website.

The reaction to immediately pull down the election odds made sense.  It's a morbid thought but these gambling sites would have anticipated heavy action coming in on Biden with the potential for a more tragic outcome the seconds following the shooting.  Though Trump walked off, blood could be seen on one side of his face.  For nearly an hour after the shooting, his condition remained unknown.

BetOnline, meanwhile, reports brisk business on the U.S. presdiential election odds front, though numbers appear to have stabilized somewhat.  Trump remained the -300 favorite (up from -180 Saturday morning).  Biden sat at +350 odds.
