This series has little in the way of any edge.  Both clubs are playing well and Philadelphia is arguably among the best teams in the MLB right now but they returned from the All Star break with two starting pitchers out of commission.

Phildelphia Phillies Starting Pitching

Aaron Nola

Aaron Nola (11-4, 3.54 ERA)

Aaron Nola allowed six hits and four earned runs across five innings on Friday against the Pirates. He struck out four and walked one in a no-decision.  Nola coming off a no decision is a spot to grab him despite not having a whole lot of head-to-head trends.

Other Starters

Both Ranger Suarez and Zach Wheeler are expected to return for this series after suffering injuries.

Minnesota Twins Starting Pitching

Pablo Lopez

Pablo Lopez (8-7, 5.11 ERA)

Phillies are just 23 of 104 at bats against Lopez.  Bryce Harper is 6 for 19 against him with 3 RBIs.

Bailey Ober

Bailey Ober (8-5, 4.16 ERA)

Bailey Ober allowed three runs over six innings to lose to the White Sox in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

One would anticipate a bounce back here.
