France is the early odds-on favorite to win the Women's Handball gold at this year's Summer Olympics in Paris.  These odds are competitive nonetheless as Norway opened as the early favorite.  France won gold at the last Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

The women’s group stage gets underway on July 25 with the gold medal game to be held on Aug. 10.

The women's handball tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics will be the 13th edition of the handball event for women at the Summer Olympic Games. It will be held from 25 July to 10 August 2024.

Stine Skogrand has been part of Norway's national women's handball team for the past decade.  She spoke about her nation's dominance in the sport back in December.

“There has always been a lot of consistency, both on the coach position and among the players,” the 30-year-old said. “We have always had an extremely high level of routine, and we have been lucky to have the best goalkeepers for many years.

"I think we’ve continuously just had a good mix of players. We’ve got small quick players and a good defence and attack. Often several players get selected for the All-Star teams at the championships."

Skogrand continued: “Norway has consistently been good at talent development,” Skogrand explained. “The Federation has always spent a lot of resources on the youth national teams”

“I remember from when I played on the youth national teams, we had exactly the same concept as on the senior team. We had the same routines around training and games and how we should behave. So, the entire ‘education’ on how to play for the senior team was already there from an early age.”
