Could Donald Trump, the GOP nominee, replace JD Vance on the ticket as his VP?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Speculation was growing among social media users and political commentators that the former president might be considering replacing his running mate for the 2024 presidential election.

This speculation is fueled by criticisms of Vance's political stance and perceived lack of conviction, with some suggesting that his selection was a strategic misstep by the Trump campaign. The discussions also highlight a perceived lack of broad appeal in Trump's campaign strategy, with Vance's selection not seen as effective in attracting new voters or broadening the campaign's base.

BetOnline had yet to release odds on Vance being replaced but that's likely to happen soon.

Joe Biden’s decision to drop out and endorse Kamala Harris to succeed him on the Democratic ticket reportedly has Trump’s team scrambling to find someone else for VP.

“Most striking thing I heard from Trump allies yesterday was the second-guessing of JD Vance—a selection, they acknowledged, that was [born] of cockiness, meant to run up margins with the base in a blowout rather than persuade swing voters in a nail-biter,” Atlantic staff writer Tim Alberta, who had written the piece about the panicking Trump campaign, posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Polymarket released a betting market overnight that has seen nearly $40,000 in bets coming in.  There is good news for Vance there as only 10 percent believe he'll be replaced on the ticket.  Those are +900 odds.

Polymarket, which does not accept bets from the U.S., will resolve this market to "Yes" if JD Vance officially announces his withdrawal or is confirmed to have withdrawn from his candidacy for Vice President in the 2024 US election by 11:59 PM ET on August 31, 2024.

In the event of any extenuating circumstances that prevent JD Vance from continuing the race, this market will also resolve to "Yes".

If JD Vance does not announce his withdrawal or is not forced to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race by the specified time, this market will resolve to "No".

The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from JD Vance or his official/legal representatives, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
