Billy Walters and Pro Sports Bettor Spanky Launch American Bettors Voice to Give Gamblers Seat at Table
- Two of the biggest names in sports betting launch program to give gamblers a voice.
- Nearly all U.S. sportsbook apps have developed well earned reputation for limiting winning players.
- Pro sports bettor Billy Walters is one of those involved: "Bettors deserve to be treated fairly, and we at American Bettors‘ Voice are unwavering in our commitment to this cause.”
Gamblers tired of being limited or booted for simply winning at U.S. state regulated sportsbooks will now have a seat at the table.
Two sports betting legends - Gadoon “Spanky” Kyrollos & Billy Walters - this week announced the launch of a Nevada-based non-profit called American Bettors‘ Voice (ABV). The purpose of ABV is to give sports bettors a seat at the table in the rapidly expanding U.S. online sports betting markets.
A release from the newly formed organization notes that "a reality of U.S. online sports betting is that many actors within the ecosystem have generally not demonstrated an interest in interacting with sports bettors other than as streams of data to be manipulated.
"This disinterested group of actors includes operators, regulators, affiliates, lobbyists, consultants, and related entities. This is a threat to the sustainability of the sports betting industry. Moreover, the political and regulatory entities cannot successfully fulfill their mandates without engaging with the sports betting consumer."
Mr. Kyrollos, the organization‘s Chairman, noted: “This organization is the perfect complement to BetBash and the Sports Gambling Hall of Fame. Bettors need a voice, and we intend for these voices to be heard.”
Kyrollos also heads up BetBash, a sports betting networking event to be held in August in Las Vegas that brings together sports gamblers and operators. While it's true the likes of Circa Sports, the host venue, will be present, very few representatives from U.S. regulated sportsbook apps are expected to be in attendance. The likes of DraftKings and ESPN Bet have developed well earned reputations for drastically limiting winning customers. Some, like Kyrollos, even get the boot.
Billy Walters, perhaps the best known sports bettor, expressed his commitment to American Bettors‘ Voice: “At this stage in my life, I am eager to give back to an activity that has given me so much. Bettors deserve to be treated fairly, and we at American Bettors‘ Voice are unwavering in our commitment to this cause.”
ABV’s mission is To Give Bettors a Voice at the Table. Gaming and regulatory veteran Richard Schuetz is its chief executive officer. The Advisory Board is comprised of Brett Smiley, Brianne Doura-Schawohl, Susan Hensel, Allison McCoy, and Eric Raskin.
