Washington Huskies Pac-10 Odds Improve With Win
Should the Oregon State Beavers win their late night battle against Washington Thursday night, things could get interesting in the Pac-10. Washington was a -9 favorite to beat Oregon State at Sports Interaction (see website here - there was still time to bet on this game)
From ESPN.com:
Going into the Pac-10 tournament, most analysts have either picked Cal or Washington to finish with the conference's automatic bid (although, if Oregon State manages to defeat Washington on Thursday, watch out for the Beavers). However, Cal may be prime for an early upset due to a lingering injury to a key player.
Sophomore Jorge Gutierrez -- easily the best defender on the Bears squad -- is still day-to-day due to sprained ankle suffered in the regular season-ending win over Stanford. Basically, the story of Cal's 2010 season -- injuries -- continues into the postseason.
The Bears face the winner of the opening round Washington State-Oregon game. The Ducks have continually underwhelmed this season so Gutierrez would be much more valuable going up against Washington State, where he could be used to contain Klay Thompson or Reggie Moore.
The Huskies have won the Pac-10 tournament just once back in 2005 when they defeated Arizona, 81-72. Washington finished the regular season with an 11-7 conference mark, and closed out its ledger with nine wins in its last 11 contests.
