Katie Ledecky Odds to Win the 800m Freestyle Gold in Paris
Katie Ledecky is the clear favorite to win the Women's 800m Freestyle event in Swimming.
It's easy to see why.
Ledecky has won eight Olympic gold medals and 21 world championship gold medals, the most in history for a female swimmer. She has won a world record 16 individual gold medals at the World Aquatics Championships. Ledecky's six individual gold medals at the Olympics and 26 overall medals at the World Aquatics Championships are records in women's swimming.
Her most recent gold medal was won in Paris at the 1500m freestyle.
She is now tied with Jenny Thompson's record for the most by any female swimmer in Olympic history.
While Ledecky said she doesn't give much thought to history books, she said she'll always look up to those iconic U.S. swimmers.
"Those women that I'm up there with now, they're people that I've looked up to for so many years," Ledecky told reporters after the race. "I consider many of them friends, supporters, people that I was watching swim when I was just starting out in the sport, so that's very special to me to share that with them, and they've definitely inspired me."
She does require a US$400 bet to win/profit US$100. That $400 is refunded provided she wins.
