The No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs will be tested early this season as they face off against another ranked team, the Clemson Tigers, in Week 1.

The game features a line of Georgia -12 while the moneyline comes in at +375 for Clemson.  This means that, should the Tigers win outright, the payout would be a cool $375 for every $100 bet.

Could it happen?  Perhaps.

Georgia has its sights squarely on a third national championship in four years after just missing out on the playoff a year ago.

What's at Stake

For Clemson, while their 9-4 record last year marked their most losses since 2011, the team finished on a high note.  Clemson closed the season with a 5-game winning streak.  Some books do have Clemson favored to win Over 9 regular season games in 2024.

SportsGrid writes of this game:

"Clemson’s defense will be key if they are to keep the game close. On the other hand, Georgia’s offense, which has been explosive in recent seasons, will look to capitalize on any weaknesses in the Clemson secondary. Expect a hard-fought battle in the trenches, with Georgia’s stout defensive line posing significant challenges for Clemson’s offense."

Winners and Whiners writes:

"It’s tough to get an accurate read on Clemson. While there are guys like Tyler from Spartanburg, who think that Swinney is overpaid and behind the times given the fact that the team struggled a season ago while rebuffing the transfer portal, the fact remains that they will contend in the ACC. The problem for the Tigers is that they have to deal with powerhouses from other conferences, both in non-conference matchups like this one, and in the CFP, should they make the field. Georgia was a field goal away from having a shot at trying to battle for a third straight title last season. The Bulldogs lost some pieces, sure, but they are still a dangerous team. Georgia is 8-0 under Kirby Smart in season openers, five of which came against power conference opponents. While Georgia can pile up points, Clemson’s defense was solid last season. Two touchdowns are a lot to give in a game that could be low-scoring. Straight up, Georgia is the call all day long but take the points if you’re playing the line in this one.
