Those in Tallahassee might be in for a very long season as their beloved Florida State Seminoles started out 2024 0-2 with two upset losses.

This comes after a Cinderella year in which most folks felt the Noles were deprived of a College Playoff spot.

Anyone looking to still bet on FSU games - that's pretty much everybody in the region over 18 - can do so at the state's only regulated website, Hard Rock Bet

Sites licensed offshore like BetUS still welcome Florida residents 18 and up.

Bad Start to 2024

Florida State was ranked No. 10  entering the very first game of the 2024 season against Georgia Tech.  They were also heavily favored to win.

Florida State coach Mike Norvell was sickened by his team’s season-opening 24-21 loss to Georgia Tech in Ireland.

“It’s sickening that we came up short in that game,” Norvell said. “Obviously, I take total responsibility and ownership for that. It’s my job to have the team prepared to go and play to the best of our ability. I don’t believe that was our best.”

Waiting in the wings, Boston College.  And if you thought Norvell was sick days earlier.....

FSU knew the dangers here but still the Seminoles were favored.

The Eagles’ Thomas Castellanos had one of the more impressive seasons by a dual threat quarterback in 2023, throwing for 2,248 yards and running for 1,113 yards — becoming just the fifth ACC player to surpass 2,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a single season. Louisville’s Lamar Jackson accomplished the feat twice (2016 and ’17), and Castellanos could be primed to build on his totals under the guidance of new coach Bill O’Brien.

Boston College's Treshaun Ward provided the dagger in the 28-13 FSU second losing effort. Ward ended the game 138 yards of offense, including a 13-yard touchdown reception.

Ward, a Tampa native who played at Florida State from 2019-22, had 77 yards rushing and 61 yards receiving as the Eagles (1-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) totaled 263 yards rushing.

“Everything we did this offseason, from a winter workout, summer workout, it led up to this,” Castellanos said. “This is what we prepared for. It all panned out.”
