The NFL has softened its position on marijuana recently, essentially to a non-existent state, but just a handful of years ago it was an entirely different story.

Adam "Pacman" Jones, a "bad boy" in the league during his 13-year tenure (2005-2018), said this week that he smoked weed before every game.

"I had to smoke before the games. The one year that I was in the program I really didn't play that good. That said, it's interesting to hear that Jones believes his skills were at a higher level when he smoked weed before kickoff. Most wouldn't think of marijuana as a performance-enhancing drug...quite the opposite.

Last year, Travis Kelce told Vanity Fair that he estimates 50-80% of NFL players smoke marijuana regularly.
