49ers' Deebo Samuel to Miss Multiple Weeks With Calf Strain

The San Francisco 49ers are hurting with Christian McCaffrey already out and now Deebo Samuel.

Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Samuel strained his calf late in Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and would "probably miss a couple of weeks."

According to Shanahan, Samuel suffered the injury with a little more than two minutes left in the game.

"He told me he thinks he did it when he caught, I think it was the third to last play," Shanahan said. "They had a blitz down in the red zone. He caught the hot route breaking in. He says he thinks he did it on that play."

With 2:18 left in the fourth quarter, Niners quarterback Brock Purdy threw short to the right side to Samuel for a 2-yard gain. Television replays showed Samuel grimacing and moving slowly to the sideline favoring his right leg just before the two-minute warning.

Despite the injuries to both McCaffrey and Samuel, San Francisco comes into Week 3's game against the LA Rams as -7.5 road favorites.

Using Sagarin, which does not factor in injuries right away, we get a line of San Francisco 3.5.

The Rams will be dealing with their own injury woes as Cooper Kupp is expected to be out with an ankle injury until Week 8.

Other Rams injuries include wideout Puka Nacua, offensive linemen KT Leveston, Steve Avila, and Joe Noteboom, while guard Jonah Jackson aggravated a shoulder injury on Sunday and is a candidate for injured reserve.

The Rams' defense will be missing tackle Larrell Murchison as well as cornerbacks Darious Williams, Derion Kendrick and Tre Tomlinson. Safety John Johnson is likely set to be out as well.

Gators, Seminoles Next Head Coach Odds

It's highly unlikely that Mike Norvell is fired from his post at Florida State, but we'll speculate anyway.

What is highly unlikely…Billy Napier makes it until the end of October as the head coach of the Florida Gators.

Napier's buyout tag is about a third of what Norvell's is, and they didn't just give him a massive extension in January like Norvell (and have to assume FSU still licking wounds from Willie Taggart buyout).
