Over Half the Remaining Field Eliminated in Circa Survivor
LAS VEGAS – In what has become the most upset-filled season in professional football history, Circa Survivor – the pro football betting contest by Circa Sports – had another crazy week. Two major upsets leave 221 contestants left to compete for the $14,226,000 prize pool.
Going into week 5 there were 480 entries remaining in Circa Survivor. Like three of the four weeks prior, the top picked team ended up losing. This week’s top picked team was Seattle, a 7-point favorite over New York. After a back-and-forth first half, New York scored early in the second half and wouldn’t look back. While Seattle had a chance to tie the game with a field goal, New York ended up blocking the kick and returning it for a touchdown. Seattle’s loss eliminated 160 entries from Circa Survivor.
San Francisco was also a 7-point favorite over Arizona and was picked by 86 entries. It seemed like San Francisco would have no problems after being the most-picked team last week and securing a win. Although they were up 23-10 at halftime, San Francisco would not score for the rest of the game. Arizona kicked a field goal with 1:37 remaining to win 24-23.
259 entries ended up being eliminated during the week. In addition to Seattle and San Francisco, six entrants took New England, six players took Pittsburgh and one person took Tampa Bay. There are another 16 entries depending on Kansas City Monday night.
This is the earliest week in Circa Survivor history to have less than 250 entries remaining. Last year, the number of entries fell below 250 during week 12A, the mini week set for Thanksgiving. In 2022, it was week 7 that knocked the field down to this level. In 2021, the remaining entries fell under 250 during week 11.
