Ole Miss (5-1) bounced back nicely from an upset loss to Kentucky the week before.

JJ Pegues had a pair of short touchdown runs as the 12th-ranked Rebels bounced back from their first loss of the season to beat South Carolina 27-3 on Saturday.

“He's so awesome,” Rebels Jaxson Dar said. “He's the only defensive tackle who can move like that in the whole country. He could honestly play tight end for us, too. He's a special talent.”

The Rebels (5-1, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) took advantage of a pair of early gambles by the Gamecocks (3-2, 1-2) to build a quick lead and take control.

LSU (5-1) lost its first game of the season to USC but has been on fire ever since.

The line on this game has moved from Ole Miss -3 to -3.5 over the course of the week.  Sagarin gives us a number of Rebels 2.76. This one is on the money.

What's at Stake?

The loser of this year’s “Magnolia Bowl” rivalry game will have an uphill climb, and might be reliant on factors outside of its control, in order to climb back into contention for a spot in the new 12-team College Football Playoff. Ole Miss already has a loss in league play in the race to the SEC championship game.

Key Matchup

Ole Miss’ explosive passing offense, which is led by QB Jaxson Dart and ranks second nationally with 372.8 yards per game, against an LSU pass defense that has struggled intermittently with coverage busts and missed tackles, and which ranks 93rd nationally, giving up 236.4 yards per game.
