Massive Fight on Tap Friday Night With Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson
Sportsbooks are geared up to enjoy a nice jolt Friday ahead of the highly anticipated bout between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.
Originally slated for the summer, The rescheduled fight is set for Friday night at the $1.2 billion retractable-roof home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas beginning at 8 pm ET. The state has sanctioned it as a pro fight with some modifications.
A Netflix subscription, something most folks have at this point, is the only requirement to view the big fight. Bars and other venues showing it are expected to be packed with reservations required at many establishments along with cover charges.
Tyson's price had dropped from +260 to +200 with Paul still favored at -250.

The oddsmakers were more accurate than the pollsters when it came to the 2024 Election, and they're making another bold bid on what will transpire with Donald Trump's pick for America's Attorney General.
"Gaetz's enemies stretch far and wide across the GOP, and his connection to scandals will make the confirmation process extremely uncomfortable," BetOnline political analyst and oddsmaker Paul Krishnamury said. "He may be a sacrificial lamb for GOP Senators, for whom opposing this nomination provides cover to waive through other controversial appointments."

FBI agents raided the Manhattan apartment of Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan on Nov. 13 — just a week after the election betting platform accurately predicted Donald Trump’s stunning victory, The Post has learned.
The 26-year-old entrepreneur was roused from bed in his Soho pad at 6 a.m. by US law enforcement personnel who demanded he turn over his phone and other electronic devices, a source close to the matter told The Post. NY Post reporter Taylor Knight shares this story.

Brazil Parliamentary Betting Commission to Address Concerns About Industry
The parliamentary inquiry commission (CPI) on betting was formed in Brazil [on 12 November] ahead of the legal market launch on 1 January 2025, so senators can discuss their concerns with the industry.
The betting CPI was initially proposed on 8 October, with Senator Soraya Thronicke requesting its creation to investigate the “growing influence of online virtual gambling games on [Brazilian families’ financial spending]”.
Thronicke’s request received the 27 signatures needed but the group’s formation was delayed amid uncertainty over who would serve on the inquiry.
The Brazil Supreme Court this week banned the use of social benefits for gambling and limited advertising to protect minors. Justice Fux’s ruling came immediately after a two-day public hearing on November 11 and 12, where representatives from more than 40 entities participated.

Argentina: Proposed Ban on Online Gambling Ads Moves Forward After Scandal in Chamber of Deputies
A plenary session formed by the Commissions of Addiction Prevention and Drug Trafficking Control; Social Action and Public Health; Communications and Information Technology; Criminal Legislation; and Families, Children, and Youth of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies issued a majority opinion for the regulation of online gambling and the prevention of problem gambling, which is ready to be dealt with in Congress.
After a tense debate, which included strong disputes among legislators, mainly concerning the prohibition of gambling advertising, the opposition led by the Civic Coalition, with the contribution of Unión por la Patria, Encuentro Federal and Democracia para Siempre, which brings together the critical radicals, obtained 90 signatures and thus moved forward with their proposal, while the Republican Proposal (PRO), with the support from the Radical Civic Union (UCR) and Legislative Liberal Party (LLA), obtained a minority vote.

New Jersey May Soon Ban College Player Prop Bets
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — After an unexpected loss in which he threw four interceptions in September, Auburn quarterback Payton Thorne heard from bettors angry that his subpar statistics lost bets for them. Some contacted him over the Venmo cash transfer app, asking him to refund their losses.
In March, North Carolina basketball player Armando Bacot said he got over 100 direct messages on social media from angry gamblers when he did not make enough rebounds for their bets to win.
Now the state whose U.S. Supreme Court victory led to an explosion of legal sports betting across America is considering banning such bets involving the statistical performance of college athletes.
New Jersey argues that student athletes are more accessible and thus more vulnerable to pressure and harassment than professional players, given that they eat in the same dining halls, live in the same dorms and attend classes with many other students.

“Not all of what has come from the legalization of sports betting has been positive,” said state Sen. Kristin Corrado.
A bill before the state Legislature would ban so-called proposition bets, commonly known as “props,” on what a particular athlete does or doesn’t do in a game. That can include how many touchdowns a quarterback throws, how many yards a running back accumulates, or how many rebounds a basketball player collects.
Austin Mayo, assistant director of government relations for the NCAA, said 1 in 3 players in sports that are heavily bet on have reported receiving harassment from gamblers.
The association wants such bets prohibited nationwide. If it passes the bill, New Jersey would join 13 other states that ban college prop bets, according to the American Gaming Association: Ohio, Maryland, Vermont, Louisiana, Arizona, Colorado, Massachusetts, Oregon, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

But Bill Pascrell III, a lobbyist for numerous gambling and sports-betting companies, said there has not been a demonstrable level of serious harm from college prop bets, which he said constitute 2% to 4% of the legal sports betting industry.
“When we ban any type of bet, particularly those that had been legalized, we’re pushing the bettor to the black market,” he said.
New Jersey allows betting on college games but prohibits it on teams from New Jersey or on games from out-of-state teams that are physically played in New Jersey.
Pascrell said that the recent tournament success of New Jersey colleges Seton Hall and St. Peter’s were bet on, either with illegal offshore internet sites, or legally by gamblers traveling to other states where it is permitted.
The bill was approved and released from an Assembly committee Thursday. It still must be approved by both full chambers of the Legislature and signed by Gov. Phil Murphy to become law.
New Jersey’s lawsuit challenging a ban on legal sports betting in all but four U.S. states led to a 2018 Supreme Court ruling allowing any state in the nation to offer it; 38 currently do, and Missouri will soon become the 39th.
