AI Leading to Fake Betting Apps Designed to Comprise Users
Group-IB has discovered that cybercriminals are using fake betting apps and ads with AI-generated voices to steal personal information and money.

- Scammers Use Fake Ads: Cybercriminals are creating fake betting app ads to lure users and steal money and personal information.
- AI-Generated Voices: Scammers use AI-generated voices in multiple languages to make their schemes seem more credible.
- Massive Reach: Over 500 fake ads and 1,377 malicious sites have been identified, targeting users in regions like Egypt, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
- Serious Losses: Victims have reported losing significant amounts, with some losing over $10,000 to these scams.
- Stay Safe: Avoid downloading apps from unofficial sources, be wary of too-good-to-be-true offers, and always use strong security measures.
The ads typically target users in regions like Egypt, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, according to Ahmed's reporting.
“Group-IB CERT discovered these scams across multiple regions, with more than 200 ads targeting Egypt, 160 ads in the GCC, and another 140 in Europe and Asia. The momentum of such scams has rapidly increased, with scammers continually expanding into new markets.”

Summer Start to Missouri Sports Betting Possible; Late Vote Count Fails to Change Outcome
Lesson learned. It was way to early to declare a victory for regulated sports betting in the Show Me State with just around 51 percent in favor and plenty of votes still coming in.
Almost 10,000 unreported votes in the conservative bastion of Christian County were heavily against it.
By the time all was said and done the margin had collapsed to just under 5000.
When the counting stopped on Nov. 5, Amendment 2 was ahead by 4,365 votes out of 2.9 million cast, a difference of 0.15%. The Christian County official returns reduced that margin to 371 votes.
Official returns from other counties, checked online by The Independent, expanded the margin to 2,877 votes. The tallies include returns from 23 of the 25 counties with the largest number of votes.
Winning for Missouri Education, the campaign committee behind the initiative, has a tally of returns from all 116 election jurisdictions showing a final margin of 2,971 votes.
“Our coalition is so thankful that Missouri voters supported Amendment 2, so that we keep the revenues from sports betting in Missouri, which helps our local communities, our professional sports teams, and will provide millions in new education funding for Missouri classrooms each year,” said Jack Cardetti, spokesperson for Winning for Missouri Education.
Official results must be certified by the State Board of Canvassers no later than Dec. 10.

Curaçao Gambling Regulator Fights Back Against Corruption Claims in Wake of BC.Game Crisis
One of the leading regulators of online gambling sites in the world, Curaçao, has come under attack in recent days.
Curaçao’s Gaming Control Board (GCB) has hit back at allegations that its gambling licensing reform is littered with instances of corruption, fraud and money laundering.
The highly regarded regulator issued a scathing letter denying said claims.
iGaming Business reports that the claims GCB refers to were made by local politician Luigi Faneyte, who is a member of the opposition Real Alternative Party. Fanayte filed a report with the attorney general’s office on 25 November claiming that gambling licenses have been issued without legal basis, which has led to financial losses.
