The “HAWK” crypto “memecoin” hit a $490 million market cap shortly after its launch late Wednesday, Cointelegraph reported, citing data from DexScreener.
Within three hours, the coin had plunged 91% and carried a valuation of just $41.7 million.
And the comments from her followers, noting we cannot verify whether these individuals actually did lose money, per their tweets.
"Lost all my money."
"Lost 85% of £1100 investment."
"The interface will not recognize the ETH in my wallet for metamask or coinbase wallet. I have ETH in both but it says none. Please update your system."
"Just lost $4,000 on your meme coin haliey i don't understand i thought i would make money on this."
You'll recall former DraftKings influencer, Taylor Mathis, better known as "The Walking Bets Girl", launched her own memecoin in October. That turned into an epic fail.
Her promotion of the $Taylor token resulted in a $6 million market cap that reportedly earned Mathis a cool $120,000. Folks across the internet questioned whether she was manipulating the market.
Mathis appeared in a video shortly thereafter claiming she was not really involved, mentioned some type of threats and contemplated suicide.
She revealed: "I only reluctantly even 'played along' because they hacked my iCloud and threatened me and my family posting our home addresses sending videos with guns etc if I didn’t do things."
Taylor appeared to be in total despair by late Friday.
"I honestly have never been in such a dark place in my life, I honestly want to kill myself. I have made no oney (sic) off of this and all the false information out there is disgusting. I don't know how people do this to people."
