The gambling public is split as to whether Tampa Bay's Mike Evans exceeds 1000 receiving yards at the conclusion of this season.

He has 10 consecutive seasons with 1,000 receiving yards and is 182 yards shy of that for his 11th season. A hamstring injury this season has so far prevented him from becoming only the second receiver (Jerry Rice) to have accomplished this feat.

The Bucs face the Carolina Panthers this weekend.  In the first game against the Panthers, Evans had eight catches for 118 yards and one touchdown.

Evans is listed with a receiving yards total of 76.5 at BetUS for this game.

Brutal Honesty in Regard to Loss to Cowboys Last Week

Evans was outspoken in regard to last week's loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

"They made more plays than us. They were more physical than us," Evans told reporters after the game. "We committed way too many penalties and way too many mistakes. They deserved to win today [because] they played like they were trying to clinch playoffs and we didn't."

The slow start came as quite a surprise for a Bucs offense averaging 7.5 first quarter points this season.

Bucs Division Title Chances Slip

The Falcons currently sit atop the NFC South at 8-7. Tampa Bay (also 8-7) has to win one more game than Atlanta over the next two weeks in order to win the division title.

Fortunately for the Bucs they face off against a Panthers team coming off a shock overtime win against Arizona while Atlanta will take on a solid Commanders team that just beat Philadelphia last week.

The line on the Panthers-Bucs game has moved from Tampa -8.5 to -8.

The Buccaneers (8-7) have to beat the Panthers and Saints at home and need the Falcons to lose once. They could make the playoffs as a wild-card team if they win out and the Commanders lose twice.
