LAS VEGAS – The football season is winding down and the pressure is on. Contenders in Circa Sports’ – a leading authority in sports betting – professional football contest, Circa Survivor, experienced one of the final hurdles in week 17A. Wednesday and Thursday made up this year’s Christmas mini-week. There were 45 contest entries going into the week and 11 were eliminated during the two days.

Circa Survivor divides week 17 of the football season into two mini-weeks. Week 17A consisted of the doubleheader on Christmas Day and the Thursday night game. Week 17B includes the remaining 13 games on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Unlike past holiday mini-weeks, there were not clear home favorites. Each team favored to win was on the road. With this gamble in mind and team availability, every team was picked by at least one contest entry.

The most-picked team was Seattle, who traveled to play Chicago on Thursday night. 20 entries were depending on Seattle, while six placed their faith in Chicago. After a sloppy game in the rain, Seattle escaped with a 6-3 win knocking out those six. The two Christmas games were more decisive. Kansas City beat Pittsburgh knocking out four entries, while Houston lost to Baltimore eliminating one entry.

34 entries have survived this far into the season. Since the expansion to 18 weeks, Circa Survivor has never had this many remaining with two legs to go. However, this is the first year the Christmas mini-week has fallen on week 17. In previous years, it had been week 16A. Going into week 17 during the 2023 season, four remained. Three were left in 2022 and five were left in 2021. In 2020, Circa Survivor did see 53 contestants enter week 16 alive. 35 of those entries ended up splitting the prize pool.

Heading into week 17B, there are heavy favorites coinciding with team availability. Of the 34 entries remaining, four have Buffalo available, 33 have Indianapolis available, 19 have Los Angeles available and 17 have Tampa Bay available to select.
