Packers vs. Eagles Betting Preview - Playoffs January 12
The Philadelphia Eagles are a -5 favorite, up from -3.5, in their game hosting the Green Bay Packers Sunday.
It's all about the Green Bay’s defense against Eagles QB Jalen Hurts. Assuming Hurts plays after getting concussed Dec. 22 at Washington and spending the past couple of weeks in league protocol, the Packers will want to test him early. The Packers keeping Hurts in the pocket and not running the ball is likely their best chance of success.

Jalen Hurts Player Prop Bets
Jalen Hurts passing yards total was set at 213.5 for this game.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Hurts has cleared concussion protocol and will play in the Wild Card Round against the Packers. He exited the Week 16 game against the Commanders with the head injury.
Prior to that in Week 15, Hurts completed 25-of-32 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 27-13, Week 15 win over the Steelers while adding 15 carries for 45 additional yards and a touchdown.
He said the concussion was his first and that he's been unable to study film while on concussion protocol.
Hurts also insists he does not expect any rust when he faces the Packers in a wild-card-round game Sunday and has no lingering symptoms.
“I'm thankful that the refs and everyone did what they were supposed to do in that time,” he said. “They made the right decision in that moment, and I'm thankful and blessed for that.”
Saquon Barkley Player Prop Bets
RB Saquon Barkley returns to the field after a day off in Philadelphia’s final regular-season game last week. Barkley finished 101 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season NFL rushing record of 2,105 yards, set in 1984. Two weeks ago, Barkley rushed for 167 yards against the Cowboys to become the ninth player in NFL history to rush for at least 2,000 yards in a season.
Barkley is among the most sought after player props, including whether he will score a touchdown. He's at -200 to score at least one while paying out $250 for every $100 bet score 2+ and $1400 for every $100 bet to score 3+.
Barkley rushed 31 times for 167 yards in the Eagles’ Week 17 win over the Cowboys while falling victim to a Kenny Pickett tush push touchdown. It was still a strong performance nevertheless against an overmatched Cowboys defense.
Barkley had 29 rushes for 150 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ Week 16 loss against the Commanders.
From NBC Edge:
Barkley had a patented long (68 yard) touchdown sprint in the first quarter, eclipsing the century mark on the ground with two minutes to go in the first frame. No one, apparently, is as fast as the 28-year-old Barkley. It was Barkley’s fifth game of the 2024 season with multiple rushing scores. He was mostly bottled up in the second half with Jalen Hurts (concussion) sidelined and the Washington defense focusing on stopping the Philly rushing attack and forcing Kenny Pickett to make crucial late-game throws. Barkley will end the season with 296 rushing yards and four touchdowns against the Commanders alone. He has a date with the exploitable Dallas defense in Week 17.
Barkley had an opportunity to set the single-season rushing record, needing just 101 yards to pass Eric Dickerson in the season's final game.
Dickerson told CBS Sports he was hopeful Barkley would surpass that record.
"If you have a record, you want to hold onto them. They're hard to get," Dickerson said on the Let's Go! podcast on SiriusXM. "But I did talk to Saquon. I gave him a call to congratulate him on going into the 2,000-yard club.
"I told him I would've liked to see him play at least a half to see if he had a chance to get it. But I understand the most important thing is winning the Super Bowl. It's not about records."
Jordan Love Player Prop Bets
Jordan Love's passing yards total is slightly higher than that of Hurts at 221.5.
Love (elbow) practiced in full on Thursday and Friday.
Love was absent for the beginning of the second half of Green Bay’s Week 18 game against the Bears due to the injury.
In Week 17, Love completed 19-of-30 passes for 185 yards in the Packers’ 27-25, Week 17 loss to the Vikings while rushing for six yards on one attempt.
In Week 16, Love completed 19-of-30 passes for 185 yards in the Packers’ 27-25 loss to the Vikings.
Love says he is "hopeful" he can play on Sunday. The oddsmaker believe he will.
Line Analysis, Comparables, Betting Action and Top Handicapping Predictions
The Packers-Eagles line has generally moved from -3.5 to -5 favoring the home team, Philadelphia.
Sagarin gives us a number of Eagles 2.22, indicating an overlay of 1 to 2.5 points.
Overlays in this range have tended to bode well for the underdog in general.
Some comparables include the Steelers +3.5 to +4 Falcons with around a two-point overlay and Pittsburgh covering.
The LA Chargers +3.5 to +4.5 Kansas City was another good game that featured an overlay of 1 to 1.5 and the Chargers covering with a 3-point loss.

From PicksWise:
Hurts has essentially missed 3 straight games since he went down very early in Week 16 against the Commanders. He only completed one pass in that game before exiting, so the last time Hurts actually played significant snaps was all the way back on December 15, almost an entire month before this game. Coming in cold like that to the intensity of a playoff game, I expect there to be an adjustment period at least early on.
I also haven’t been all too impressed with Philly’s defense. Their numbers over the last two weeks look pretty good, but that’s because they were playing Drew Lock and Cooper Rush. The last time they played a real QB was that same game Hurts got banged up in, when they let Jayden Daniels and Washington torch them for 36 points. Daniels had 5 touchdown passes in that one. Sure you can clown the Packers for losing to the Bears last week, but they weren’t really trying to win and it was Malik Willis under center down the stretch for Green Bay. I’m rolling with the Pack here.
