The 2025 Oscars nominations were being announced Thursday January 23.  The event has long enticed gamblers.

But regulated websites like FanDuel still can't take bets on this year's Oscars in most U.S. states.  Internationally licensed websites like BetUS can and do.

States Where I Can Bet the Oscars on FanDuel

As noted above, there are exceptions to the Oscars betting rule, though they are few and far in between with the 2025 Oscars.

New Jersey, Indiana, Michigan, Louisiana (with some parishes not permitting online gambling at FanDuel), Massachusetts, Kansas and Arizona have allowed Oscar betting in the past and FanDuel was expected to offer odds on the 2025 Academy Awards from these states.

Indiana opened Oscar betting markets in 2020. Michigan was added in 2021. Louisiana followed suit in 2022.

Massachusetts has had a tendancy to be among the more careful states when it comes to allowing internet gambling.  For example, they don't permit individuals to open a betting account with their credit card nor do they allow wagering via the plastic.  They also prohibit bets to be placed on in-state schools or games that feature Boston College and other in-state schools.  They do, interestingly enough, allow FanDuel and others to take Oscar wagers.

Elsewhere, FanDuel may be permitted to offer Oscar gambling from the state of Colorado, however Gambling911.com does not yet have confirmation this will occur as of January 23, 2025.

About FanDuel

What started as a backyard Texas brainstorm between 5 co-founders is now the driving force in a multibillion-dollar industry. FanDuel got its start at the 2009 SXSW Interactive festival — right there in that backyard — when our founding team decided to focus their efforts on changing the game in fantasy sports.

The season-long game would be simplified. The winning amplified. The money real. And the result? A new way to play fantasy — fan vs. fan in a test of sports knowledge and fantasy knowhow — where winners can taste victory on any given day. Not just once a year.

FanDuel is now the market leader in the U.S. regulated online sports betting market.

The company also operates numerous retail outlets across the United States.

Note that FanDuel is NOT available online in all states.

As always it is recommended to check your local state laws.
