Big news in the world of sports betting as long established BetCRIS announced it obtained a license to operate in the state of Arizona.  The company traces its roots back to 1986, operating as a call center sportsbook from the Caribbean.  For more than a decade, BetCRIS has operated primarily in the Latin American market.

Back in November, the National Football League (NFL) has enlisted Costa Rica-based online wagering company Betcris as its first official betting partner in Latin America, covering Mexico, Central America and South America.

Christopher Halpin, the NFL’s chief strategy and growth officer, said at the time: “As our fan base continues to grow across Latin America, it was important that we partner with a trusted industry leader in the territory.

“Betcris’ capabilities throughout this important region, and its management team’s experience and commitment to the highest standards, made it clear they were the right partner for the NFL.”

Plannatech (USA) Corporation is the software provider for both BetCRIS and Prime Sportsbook.  The latter is licensed in Ohio and New Jersey.

For now, BetCRIS features a bare bones login page for Arizona gamblers.

The site joins only a handful of North American sports betting firms to cater to those seeking high limits that include Circa Sports, Pinnacle (Canada only) and Prime Sportsbook.

Most industry watchers appeared to be taken aback by the news of BetCRIS' entry into the U.S. regulated sports wagering arena.
