The NFC has been favored in three consecutive Super Bowls, but the narrative is changing for Super Bowl LIX.

This particular writer just happens to be a lifelong Eagles fan, so of course I think Philly should be favored in the big game, but the oddsmakers don't ask for my opinion.

BetOnline.ag opened the Chiefs as 1.5-point favorites in the Super Bowl with an over/under of 48.5 (both numbers have changed since opening so check current odds below).

Interestingly, when lookahead lines for the Super Bowl were released this past Monday, the Chiefs were also 1.5-point favorites (total was 45.5).

The line had moved to -2 overnight but was sitting at Chiefs -1 by Monday morning.

Underdogs have performed very well in recent years, covering the spread in 16 of the last 24 Super Bowls. Here are some other trendy notes:

- The team to win has covered the spread in 9 of the last 10 Super Bowls, and 17 of 20

- The game has gone UNDER the total in 5 of the last 6 Super Bowls

- The team to score first has won 37 of 58 Super Bowls

- Three straight Super Bowl have been decided by a field goal

Super Bowl LIX Odds

Kansas City Chiefs -2

Philadelphia Eagles +2

Over/Under 50

Last 5 Super Bowl Spreads

- Chiefs vs. 49ers (-2.5)

- Chiefs vs. Eagles (-2)

- Bengals vs. Rams (-4)

- Bucs vs. Chiefs (-3)

- 49ers vs. Chiefs (-1.5)

Super Bowl odds are subject to change and will be updated in real-time.
