A rare Banksy artwork, hand-painted by the elusive street artist and owned by Blink 182 frontman Mark Hoppus, is set to be auctioned Tuesday with a potential hammer price north of 6 million.

Titled Crude Oil (Vettriano), the piece is Banksy’s reinterpretation of the 1992 painting The Singing Butler by artist Jack Vettriano.

In a coincidental and saddening twist, Vettriano was found dead in his apartment the day before the lot was set to be auctioned by Sotheby's. The Scottish painter was 73.

Gambling house, BetOnline.ag, has set over/under odds for how much the Banksy original will sell for. Sotheby's estimate range is 3.8 million to 6.3 million, and the oddsmakers are expecting the higher end at hammer.

"We were at 4.5 million for the number, basically right in the middle, but then we started seeing bet after bet on the 'over' after the news of Vettriano's passing so we had to adjust the number quite a bit," BetOnline.ag arts and entertainment oddsmaker Ed Pownall said. "There's already captivating lore behind this work beyond the Banksy touch, and now with this sad happenstance the bettors are clearly expecting the bidding to be bolstered."
