An Unreal Athlete

Examine the rosters of college basketball teams across the United States. It’s not uncommon to find a plethora of non-United States players. Name a country and chances are if there’s a college-aged player with the game, he will get recruited.

Such was the case with VJ Edgecombe, with a travelog that began in Bimini, Bahamas, making the national team. Listed at 6-foot-5, the guard found his way to Florida and Victory Institute, then to Long Island Lutheran, and eventually to Waco, Texas.

All Edgecombe accomplished in Waco (that’s where there the Baylor Bears are, by the way)

was to average 15 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. Edgecombe was chosen Big 12 Freshman of the Year and, in this era of one-and-done, is projected as a high first-round choice should he choose to enter the NBA.

With the first round of the 2025 tourney set to begin March 20th and 21st, eyes are going to be focused on known-quantity marquees such as Edgecombe.

As the gazillions of people who’ve filled out a March Madness bracket watch the teams try to survive and advance,

This doesn’t mean Edgecombe’s regular-season success is guaranteed to carry over to March Madness games, but it certainly would not stun. Baylor was 19-13 heading into the tournament.

By the way, the 2025 NBA Draft is June 25th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Here’s a bit of a primer on the 2025 NCAA men’s basketball tournament…

When Does March Madness Start?

NCAAB news had the men’s basketball tournament beginning at its usual venue of Dayton, Ohio, with the quartet of play-in games determining the teams filling out the full field of 64. Then, the tourney traverses the United States, with the opening round at eight arenas in Lexington, Kentucky, Providence, Rhode Island, Seattle, Washington, Wichita, Kansas, Cleveland, Ohio, Denver, Colorado, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Raleigh, North Carolina.

Eventually, the March Madness schedule winds its way to the cavernous Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The Final Four begins April 5th, with the national title game going on April 7th.

Which Team Is the Favorite to Win March Madness?

Though ending in April, March Madness earned its name due to the huge interest and “predictable unpredictability” of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Just about everyone and their uncle is involved, betting their money on individual games and/or future wagers or filling out a free-to-participate pool.

Of course, there’s no one who has ever come close to correctly predicting all 63 March Madness games (we’re not counting play-in games). Season after season, however, it’s a quest to try and be the first.

There are so many things to consider, Start with laying/taking the points or betting the money line. Who is poised to make a deep run in the tourney? Which 2-seed is probably losing to a 15? What about those tricky pairings of 8-9 seeds?

Does BetUS Have Constant Updates on March Madness Winners’ Odds?

March Madness picks and predictions include a variety of options, especially when it comes to the biggest prize out there, As of this writing with the first round of the tourney about to start, there are four teams dominating the market.

It’s the Duke Blue Devils as tepid 3-1 (+300) favorites to win their first title in a decade, the second-choice Florida Gators at 7-2 (+350).

Priced at 9-2 (+450) are the Auburn Tigers, while the Houston Cougars are 6-1 (+600) on the NCAAB betting odds, the only other team under double digits right now. At No. 5 on the betting board are the 18-1 (+1800) Alabama Crimson Tide.

Note the odds of winning the title are fluid (these were just before the beginning of the first round of the tourney). Do not forget to check ‘em before wagering.

Back to Edgecombe. Baylor may be a 250-1 (+25000) longshot to win the title according to March Madness odds, but there’s interest among fans, scouts, bettors, and general managers.

Any Final Thoughts?

Fans of NCAAB rumors are in their glory around this time of year. Teams they know well and teams they know nothing about, both come into play in the tournament. Who has a shot to win it all and who’s a one-and-done entity? Do some homework and figure it out.
