Last week, Biconomy and Overtime, formely DAO, announced they were teaming up to create the world's frictionless onchain sportsbook.

What exactly is a frictionless onchain sportsbook you may be asking yourself?

It's essentially a type of sports betting platform built on a blockchain that aims to make the betting experience as smooth, transparent, and user-friendly as possible.

Onchain refers to all core operations—bets, payouts, odds, etc.— that occur directly on a blockchain, like Ethereum, Solana, or others.

This integration allows sports bettors to:

  • Create accounts with simple social logins
  • Place bets without wallet pop-ups or gas fees
  • Experience Web2-like simplicity with Web3 transparency

Biconomy (BICO) is a multi-chain relayer protocol designed to simplify Web3 transactions, lower gas fees, and boost dApp usability. It provides a plug-and-play solution for handling gas payments, transactions, and bridging functionalities for Web3 dApps, making decentralization accessible to everyone.

Overtime is the onchain sportsbook platform.

Built on the Ethereum network, the protocol emphasizes transparency, security, and immutability. Overtime’s operational history includes:

  •     Over $200 million in volumes
  •     Support for over 100 sports and leagues
  •     50,000 active users
  •     More than 10,000 unique betting markets

It claims to be the "best crypto sportsbook in the world".

"Enjoy an open blockchain sportsbook that offers everything traditional sportsbooks do and even more! Predict live matches, player props, futures, build parlays and choose from an abundance of sports and leagues. Earn crypto airdrops, free bets and other rewards. You can even deposit funds in the liquidity pool and become the house!"
