Odds on Nikola Jokic Really Changing Teams Next Season
Since the Nuggets Cleaned House Mid-Season, Rumors Are Swirling About the Three-Time MVP Changing Teams.
What’s Next?
A turbulent season with the Denver Nuggets, just two NBA seasons after winning the franchise’s first-ever league title. Denver in 2024-25 hasn’t been awful but hasn’t sniffed the runaway Oklahoma City Thunder in the Northwest Division of the NBA standings.
The final days of the regular season saw the Nuggets with the possibility of reaching 50 wins (third season in a row), so not all that bad here. It’s been a season of inconsistency in their NBA schedule, however, which dropped Denver to about 20-1 (+2000) in odds to win the title in 2025.
Denver stunned the basketball community last week, firing both its coach (Michael Malone) and general manager (Calvin Booth). Whether it produces dividends is debatable, but what it has done is increase the noise about its franchise player seeking/getting a change of venue.
Nikola Jokic, the defending MVP and thrice a winner of the award, is a statistical freak, Third in league scoring at 29.8 points per game (as of this writing). He’s also averaging 12.8 rebounds and 10.2 assists.
He is thus poised to become just the third player ever to average a triple-double in a season, a rare fraternity with Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook, who’s done it four times.
Those obscene numbers aside, is it possible that Jokic departs Denver? The subject of Nikola Jokic’s next team odds has led to interest, intrigue, and conjecture. The movement of players is nothing new in the NBA, but after spending his first 10 pro seasons in Colorado, Jokic in another jersey is somewhat of a sacrilegious thought.
Jokic won’t win a fourth MVP award (presumptive bridesmaid to Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander this time around), but no league executive wouldn’t grab him in a fraction of a millisecond.
As a point of reference, Jokic is in the midst of a five-season contract worth north of $260 million, which expires in 2027-28.
Here’s a bit of a primer on Nikola Jokic and him possibly departing Denver…
How Many MVPs Does Jokic Have?
As was mentioned, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is a three-time NBA MVP winner, honored after the 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2023-24 seasons. The odds are strongly suggesting he’s finishing second this time around to OKC’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (bridesmaid last season).
Why Is Jokic Nicknamed the Joker?
There are any number of reasons Nikola Jokic is the Joker, starting with the similarity to his surname. That’s not all. Jokic is known to have one of the best personalities in the league during NBA games, though without seeking attention. That’s difficult to do, considering the sort of resume he’s compiled during his decade in the league.
Add in his wizardry with and without the ball, and you understand the moniker.
Does BetUS Have Constant Updates on Nikola Jokic’s Next Team Betting Odds?
It’s not in his nature to make demands of management, but there’s certainly speculation regarding Nikola Jokic leaving Denver. Nikola Jokic’s next team odds (if not the Nuggets) have both the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder favored at 4-1 (+400).
The Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic, and Toronto Raptors are also under double figures in that scenario, priced at 5-1 (+500), 7-1 (+700), and 8-1 (+800), respectively.
H3: Any Final Thoughts?
Anyone who pays even marginal attention to NBA games can attest to the dominance of Nikola Jokic. Perhaps the future of the Joker in the Mile High City is intertwined with how well the Denver Nuggets perform in this season’s NBA playoffs.
