The F1 Is Back

F1 invades South Florida this Sunday (May 4th) with the Miami Grand Prix at the International Autodrome. It’s the sixth race of the F1 schedule, over a unique course built around Hard Rock Stadium. There are 19 corners over a circuit that’s more than three miles in circumference.

Historians note road racing in and around Miami dates back to the 1980s.

As this race’s distance is in excess of 191 miles, it’s a total of 57 laps. Using the standard F1 grid means there are 20 cars (that’s two each representing 10 teams). Qualifying is the day before (Saturday, May 3rd), so a different sort of horsepower right before the Kentucky Derby.

As of this writing, a few days before the qualifying, it’s the defending Miami GP champion Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri sharing board favoritism at 7-5 (+140). It’s no surprise the McLaren mates are first (Piastri) and second (Norris), respectively, on the current F1 leaderboard.

Max Verstappen, the 2002-23 winner in Miami, is the 5-1 (+500) third choice in the wagering, with George Russell (14-1, [+1400]) and Charles Leclerc (18-1, [+1800]) the only other drivers under 20-1. Piastri is the tepid 7-5 (+140) choice to win the pole, with Norris at 8-5 (+160).

Here’s a bit of primer on the fourth Miami Grand Prix Sunday afternoon…

Where Is the 2025 Miami Grand Prix?

Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium is usually associated with the Dolphins of the National Football League. It’s not Fish on the menu this time around, but rather F1’s Miami Grand Prix Sunday afternoon.

What Time Is the F1 Race in Miami?

A late afternoon (4 PM ET) start to Sunday’s Miami GP in South Florida.

Is Miami F1 a Sprint Race?

There is a separate and distinct sprint event going on Saturday afternoon. At a bit more than 62 miles, it’s about one-third the distance of the Grand Prix itself, with its own F1 results.

Is the Miami Grand Prix Track Permanent?

Nope. The Miami International Autodrome, while among the newer tracks on the circuit, is a temporary ‘oval’ (track, fences, and barriers) around the grounds of Hard Rock Stadium. It doesn’t use any public roads, and after the race(s), it goes into ‘storage’ until the next event.

Does BetUS Offer Constant Updates on F1 Betting Odds?

Indeed, with a quick look at the BetUS site, finding countless ways to bet on F1, including the winner of the Grand Prix, the sprint, and/or the qualifying, along with which team is represented by those winners.

There are wagers involving Formula 1 margins of victory, fastest lap, podium finishes, etc.

Remember, any odds are fluid, moving about as fast as the cars themselves (perhaps not quite).

Any Final Thoughts?

Anyone who pays even marginal attention to F1 standings and F1 news is acutely aware of the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. Led by Brit Lando Norris and Aussie Oscar Piastri, here are 20 cars zooming around Hard Rock Stadium and just about as many chances to make some money. Continue to invoke the phrase ‘do your homework’ (including the weather) because it’s essential if you’re going to gain any advantage against the board.
