Oh the drama on Gambling Twitter. It's about to get heated this week apparently.
Sports betting professional and former Division 1 pitcher John Murges has it out for one of the preeminent sports handicapping site WagerTalk, promising to "expose" the company.
In recent days he's gone on a Twitter rant about WagerTalk and he's taking his gripes to X Spaces on July 20, appearing with none other than Jeff Nadu is an American content creator known for his work with Barstool Sports and podcast related to Mafia history. Nadu has close to 19,000 followers on Twitter and 93,000 subscribers to his podcast.

WagerTalk offers expert handicappers analyzing MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, NCAAF, NCAAB, soccer, MMA, horse racing, and NASCAR. In recent years, it has emerged as one of the leading sports handicapping ventures on the Net.
So what's the gripe? We won't know until June 20.
Murges tweeted:

In response, WagerTalk has blocked Murges.
Specifically, Murges appears to have it out for some of WagerTalk's sports handicappers and co-owner, Kelly Stewart. She has co-hosted the "Kelly and Murray" podcast with John Murray, a Vegas sportsbook director, and is a popular figure in the world of sports handicapping.
Among her accomplishments: She once hit a 85‑1 Underdog Parlay betting $100 and winning $8,452, and she posted a 14‑1 record against the spread in her final three NFL weeks, winning the prestigious Westgate SuperContest.
Gambling911 cannot independently verify any claims made by Murges. Gambling911.com maintains close relations with some of those involved with WagerTalk, none of whom Murges appears to be attacking on X.

Stewart's boyfriend, according to Murges, has threatened legal action against him.
"So Kelly Stewart’s boyfriend messages me this: John, I’ve had enough. The posts you’ve made about me, Kelly, and her company are false, defamatory, and unlawful. I consulted with a lawyer today, and your actions constitute harassment, defamation, and cyberstalking under Florida law."

Murges grew up in Chicago. His father lived in the same building as Tony Spilotro and came up running the streets. Murges would eventually get into gambling subsequently out of high school meeting enforcer James Lavalley and Nick Gio and ultimately getting a job in an Outfit betting wire room where he ran operations. He saw it all and lived a wild life booking some of the biggest events during the 80s and early 90's and kicking up to "the guys" as he calls them. He decided in 1995, it was time to move on and he now lives in Florida with his family living a different life. He still enjoys betting and is here to tell his very eventful story.
