2025 Open Championship Preview

The winner of The Open Championship (also known as the British Open) will receive a silver claret jug, the oldest trophy in golf. As part of a new tradition, Xander Schauffele had to return the jug to the R&A on Monday in a short ceremony. Then he has four days to win it back.

The winner also gets introduced as the “champion golfer of the year,” another tradition. He also will get a five-year exemption to the other three majors, an exemption into the British Open until age 55 (past winners could play until 60) and a five-year exemption on the PGA Tour.

For those in the US, bets need to be placed prior to 6:30 am ET each morning. Updated odds will typically be available around an hour to two hours after each round concludes. Prices will be locked in once the bet is placed. If you were to get a long shot like Patrick Cantlay paying $6000 for every $100 bet heading into Thursday and he just happens to sit atop the leaderboard on Saturday morning with significantly slashed odds of say +300, you will still be paid $6000 for every $100 bet if he happens to win just as long as you wagered on him at the +6000 early price.
